Gelli Print
I LOVE gelli printing. From the very first time I pulled a gelli print I was hooked. Every print made is different, it’s a mono-printing technique, so no two prints are the same and I’m never sure what I’m going to see when I pull back the paper. The technique forms the basis of almost everything I create. I use the prints as collage paper, on fabric for my textile pieces and I even frame them up as stand-alone prints.
Gelli printing is a really simple and fun mono-printing technique. It uses a synthetic gelatine plate to transfer the details of textures and images pressed into the surface in thin layers of acrylic paint. There are so many different effects you can achieve and I’m still discovering new ones all the time.
